Environmental Monitors (also known as EMS) from Kruger to Canyon Biosphere Reserve. The Course is on NQF Level 5 with 12 credits. During the course participants explored environmental issues and risks, various teaching methods, evaluation and the goals and principles of environmental education. The Environmental Monitors are employed under Kruger to Canyon Biosphere as Rhino Ambassadors. Participants’ expectations were to gain more knowledge, skills and confidence in environmental education and learn more about learning support materials. The training was conducted at Timbavati Bush School approximately 20km from Acornhoek. This is the second group of Rhino Ambassadors equipped by WESSA through EMS and active learning. “We are all teachers and learners”; hence I learned a lot from the participants particularly around indigenous use of plants. During the course WESSA also provided a toolkit to the Rhino Ambassadors to aid with their work in environmental education. The toolkit comprised of learning support materials contained in a rucksack and funded through generous support from the Success Academy. The toolkit was handed to Rhino Ambassadors on the last day of the course creating much excitement after a productive week.

Course Participant Thabang Sibiya’s comments   “I really appreciate the help, knowledge and all presentations.  Thanks a lot.”
